HOW TO READ SITES WITH BENGALI AND INDIAN LANGUAGES IN NET

( Read The Page first and then click the RED underlined words to go to the supporting sites.) Please, Read this news by clicking here:ICANN Bringing the Languages of the World to the Global Internet Rod Beckstrom, ICANN's President is saying here, " This is only the first step, but it is an incredibly big one and an historic move toward the internationalization of the Internet ." It's a revolutionary change in the Internet's 40years of history. We, the Indians, think that nothing can be globalised without English, while ICANN is saying a shift from latin to non-latin code languages for computer is actually internationalization of the Internet.
One can find Lithuanian language in the internet, a country smaller than any district of Assam! But, we can't think even to use Bengali, Hindi (Two of the most popular 5 languages on the Globe) here in Internet! If the ICANN's plan comes into existence, as it has already started to work in Bangladesh, we all will have to embrace the Indian languages in the internet very soon. As it has already happened in the TV channels, there is every chance that the Indian Languages will leave English behind in popularity.
Ώ So, let's learn the business here and now. As of now we need UNICODE fonts and key board to read and write in Indian languages. There are many. Even Google also these days provides such options and tools! With Braha, you can write and read any languages of Indian subcontinent! It's easy to use and learn, but has very little font choices. So, I would prefer AVRO, a most popular keyboard for Bengali, Assamese, Manipuri languages with variety of font choices.
Θ But, before moving ahead on the fonts and keyboard, let's talk a little about your computer screen & browser. Without giving a thought you convert your screen resolution to 1024by786. To do this right click your mouse on Blank Desk Top. Click Properties. Go settings< screen resolution and finish the job. Your computer screen will go black for a while and change the look.
α Most net-users have fascination for the age old Internet Explorer. The Old might be Gold, but we need a young horse like Mozilla Firefox to ride on . You can even find browsers in your language of choice. Just, have a look. Some prefer Google Crome, the latest from Google. But this one is too young to work with, not as competent as Firefox. You can dress up your web browser just like your desktop with the help of Firefox Persona . So, please complete this job first. Download and Activate Firefox, and experience the change!
@ Now, let's talk again on AVRO. Download the Keyboard first. It's a 10mb file. Save the setup in your folder of choice. Double click it. The installation and activation will start. It will ask you to restart the computer. Do it and see the change. The keyboard itself will install default font Vrinda and SyamRupali. You can check in any MS word page's font Menu. Vrinda looks worst. Syam is fine , but you might wish your typing looks like any DTP printing. So, have a look for other fonts here.
You can take all or a few of your choice. But, I would suggest , you try AdorshoLipi, SolaimanLipi & BensenHandwriting first. Download fonts and save in a folder of your choice. Right Click one by one. Go to Windows< Fonts folder and past there. Your computer is ready for reading any Indian Language and writing Bengali,Assamese , Manipuri etc i.e.languages, which need Puranagari Script, usually known as Bengali.
ξ Give a finishing touch in your Web Browser for better work. Go to Menu Bar. Click Tool
Let it be Syam Rupali. Choose a size . 16 is preferable. Click the Advanced menu here in the left side. Change fonts to Bengali fonts in  Serif, Sans-Serif & Monospace drop down box. Choose size for all options. Try again and again to see which size is right for you.
